Welcoming Suzy Kennedy, In-House, Designer to JM Construction
We are pleased to welcome Suzy Kennedy, owner of SKI Design, Inc., as our new in-house designer and project coordinator. The new role was created to ensure a seamless flow on our projects’ conception and design.
Along with designing spaces, helping clients plan layouts, and selecting products, Suzy also makes sure all materials needed for a project have been selected, confirmed, ordered, and received prior to the start of a job. This helps us prevent any delays and expedite our clients’ projects.
For the past 10 years, Suzy has worked alongside JM Construction on many projects as a design consultant. Given her familiarity with our systems and processes, an in-house position was a natural fit.
Suzy brings space planning skills as well as expertise and knowledge of materials to each project. She also has the the ability to translate between contractor lingo and plain English for our clients, or as Suzy likes to say, she understands “constructionese.”
“Suzy knows and understands our style and our systems, and can deliver the vision that our clients anticipate,” explains Wendy Ballou, Vice President of Operations. “Clients are her top priority.”
When it comes to home renovation, there are many details that people are unfamiliar with; they know the look they want, but they don’t know how to get there. With over 30 years of commercial and residential experience, Suzy is able to bridge that gap.
Design and product coordination go hand in hand. “When working with a bathroom renovation, for example, clients need guidance on where the vanity should go, what edge detail will look best on the counters, or what are the best tile options are,” says Suzy. “I have a checklist of items to consider, which makes projects run smoothly and efficiently.” Ultimately, this efficiency results in satisfied clients.
“Design should be fun,” remarks Suzy. “I enjoy making beautiful enhancements to my clients’ environments and improving their quality of life.”
Suzy is a graduate of the Environmental Design program from the University of Colorado. She is a licensed interior designer with accreditation from NCIDQ, the National Council of Interior Design Qualifications. This distinction differentiates designers from decorators. Her company, SKI Design, Inc., was founded in 1998.
