Designer/Project Coordinator

This is a full-time postition.

The Designer/Project Coordinator is responsible for gathering information for the sales staff and the client to create accurate drawings for the sales staff to estimate the project. After the sales staff closes the contract it is this individual’s responsibility to complete accurate construction drawings, coordinate all activities related to the actual project including material, labor and subcontractors. This person is responsible for maintaining customer satisfaction throughout the project with the means of contract.

Responsibilities

  • The Designer will accompany the sales staff to the signing of the design contract, for customer interview and measuring. He/She is responsible for creating accurate conceptual drawings for customer review and acceptance
  • The Designer will be required to meet with and send concept drawings to trade contractors for project estimate on the work they will be performing.
  • The Designer will need to provide specifications to the trade contractors about the project including type of fixtures required.
  • The Designer is responsible for completing the construction drawings to the specifications that are agreed upon by the sales staff and the customer. All completed construction drawings will have the correct information for permitting and accordance with all company policies, procedures and building codes
  • The Designer will assist the Lead Carpenters in coordinating all activities related to the actual project including material, labor and subcontractors.
  • The Designer will maintain customer satisfaction throughout the project.
  • Once the company has accepted a job, the Designer/Project Coordinator will set up the job ready for construction, inclusive of material lists, finalizing projects and contracts with he subcontractors and completing the job folder with the assistance of the Operations Manager.
  • The Designer/Project Coordinator will meet with the Sales person, Lead Carpenter and Homeowner in a pre-construction meeting where all details and potential problems that can be foreseen, will be detailed.
  • Responsible for assisting the Lead Carpenter with ordering jobsite material
  • Responsible for ordering all special-order materials and place orders in a timely fashion allowing the vendor to deliver the items ahead of our work schedule. The Designer/Project Coordinator works with the Homeowner to ensure any special order items are selected in a timely fashion.
  • Projects not designed by JM Construction, will be handled the same as above.
  • Miscellaneous other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Must have good knowledge of home construction, computers, and appropriate software
  • Must have good communication, job coordination and supervisory skills
  • The ability to interact and communicate with crews, subcontractors and clients is crucial to this position
  • Must be available for extended work hours as required
  • Must have a reliable vehicle
  • Must maintain a professional image, demonstrate a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
