Production Manager Job Description

This is a full-time position.

Responsible for managing all JM Construction production labor staff for maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Oversees the production of remodeling jobs so that they come in on budget, on schedule, and with satisfied customers. Responsible for hiring, training, and terminating field personnel, managing the financial success of the department, and managing the systems that allow jobs to move freely from sale through the completion of the project. To coordinate all activities related to the actual remodeling and renovation of jobs sold by the sales department.

Duties:

Management

  • Create a working environment that brings the best out in other employees and that uses time as efficiently as possible while maintaining a high level of quality control to meet JM standards
  • Represent JM in a professional and respectful manner, promoting company culture and core values
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal integrity, a collaborative leadership style, and high ethical standards
  • Responsible for own professional development, as well as the development of employees
  • Manage and monitor the production team; enforce company policies, conduct production staff performance reviews, approve field employee timecards, recommend individual growth plans, and suggest acknowledgment or promotion
  • Manage the maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment
  • Manage relationships with trade partners, ensuring they are mutually beneficial and successful
  • Maintain confidentiality of company and customer information

Production

  • Protect customers’ property; do not use or allow others to use any of the customers’ tools, cleaning supplies, telephone, etc
  • Seek and support the hiring of qualified production personnel, and support their onboarding into the company
  • Oversee selection of trade partners, including vetting and quality assessments, as well as negotiating the pricing – ensuring operating procedures for trade partners are always met.
  • Achieve the goals for the production department, established at monthly management team meetings, in terms of gross profit, schedule performance, and customer satisfaction. 
  • Produce a monthly production report outlining progress on each project
  • Attend and participate in contract review, production handoff, pre-construction and final walkthrough, and weekly project review meetings.
  • Acquire project permits and assist in scheduling applicable inspections
  • Review continuing education quarterly and propose training for production staff to maintain certifications and continue improving
  • Focus on optimizing the production process, costs, and labor, continually researching new products and techniques
  • Assist with tracking costs and labor, and comparing estimated to budgeted numbers, while looking for ways to better estimate jobs in the future
  • Work to resolve both interpersonal and project-based disputes, managing client expectations to increase customer satisfaction
  • Maintain a master production schedule, monitoring cycle time to ensure productivity, accountability, and efficiency of project staff.

  • 5 years experience in remodeling team management
  • Good driving record
