Add a walk-in closet to your primary suite when you remodel

Why Your Primary Bedroom Needs a Walk-In Closet

When you’re remodeling your primary bedroom, there are many things you might want to give it a deluxe makeover. One of the biggest things you should consider is adding a walk-in closet. It is a bedroom feature that perfectly balances luxury and practicality, making it a fashion enthusiast’s dream.

Provides Neat and Organized Clothing Storage

The main purpose of a closet is to have a place to store your clothing where it won’t get wrinkled and you can easily see the garment. Regular closets, however, can easily get overstuffed with clothing, meaning the fabric gets wrinkled more easily as you paw through your hanging shirts, pants, and dresses attempting to find that elusive outfit.

In contrast, a walk-in closet is, by design, much larger than your standard closet, so there’s plenty of space for your clothes to hang. You’ll be able to more easily organize your clothes however you like, too. Different sections of the closet can be dedicated to certain seasons, garments, events, or colors. This makes it infinitely simpler to find your clothes, saving you time and energy first thing in the morning or as you’re getting ready for an important event. Adding climate control options and ventilation can also help improve the longevity of your clothing, preventing them from getting musty or damaged.

Creates a Built-In Dressing Room

Speaking of getting ready, another benefit of a walk-in closet is that it can double as a dressing room. It’s a simple thing to do, really. Install good lightning, a vanity, mirrors, and perhaps even a small ironing board and you’ll have everything you need to get ready. This is especially nice if you have a partner who likes to sleep in while you prefer to get up early so you have time to put some extra effort into your look. They won’t have to worry about being unceremoniously awakened by light and sound, and you’ll have a private area to dress and won’t be stumbling around in the dark.

Secure Storage for Valuables

Here’s something not everyone realizes – walk-in closets don’t have to just hold clothing. In fact, they can be an excellent place to install a safe to securely store valuables. You can store important documents and passports, family keepsakes, and other precious items.

For starters, as your walk-in closet is right off of your primary bedroom, you’ll have the security of knowing your valuables are nearby and secure. Unlike locking them away in a home office or den down the hall, it’s right there as you sleep, making it instantly less desirable as a target should there be a break-in. Secondly, it’s easy to add a lock to the door of your walk-in closet to add an extra layer of protection. It’s a simple deterrent, but an effective one. Thirdly, a safe can be hidden easily behind hanging coats, racks of shoes, and more.
