Justin McLinden

Our Project Consultant, Justin McLinden, has a wealth of experience in the design/build industry through both his work experience and his exposure with JM Construction over the years. JM Construction provided Justin with his first opportunity to learn about construction when he worked summers and winters as a Carpenter’s Assistant. He gained practical hands-on skills by helping to install siding, trim, hardwood flooring, roofing, and windows. This experience confirmed his desire to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management and a minor in Business at Roger Williams University.

While at college, Justin interned at Dacon Corporation, a commercial design/build company. He continued working for Dacon after graduation, taking on various roles, including both back-office and field positions. As a Project Estimator and an Assistant Project Manager, he processed change orders, managed schedules, and executed contracts with subcontractors and vendors. As an Assistant Superintendent, he was on the job site managing numerous subcontractors. During this time, Justin earned his Construction Supervisor’s license and completed his OSHA 30-hour safety training.

Justin formerly served as the company’s Construction Manager for about four years before transitioning into his current sales role. He leads the initial phase of JM Construction’s design-build work: clarifying goals, testing feasibility, and aligning scope with the budget. Although his role sits within sales, his primary focus is on stewardship—helping homeowners make confident decisions with clear information. From the first conversation through schematic planning, Justin translates ideas into a workable plan with the help of the team’s designers, outlines investment ranges and timelines, and sets the project up for a smooth handoff to design and production.

When not working, Justin enjoys downhill skiing in the winter and golfing in the warmer weather. He also enjoys spending his free time exercising, whether that be at the gym or going on runs outside. Justin finds great enjoyment in spending quality time with his friends and family.

When asked about what it’s like to work at JM Construction, Justin says, “It’s fast-paced. Morale is high. It’s an exciting time for the company because we’re growing – but doing it in a safe way. We’re implementing new ideas with a new generation of employees.”

We were curious to know what he thinks about working with his dad, Jeff McLinden, President of JM Construction. He shares, “I’ve always had a very close relationship with my father, and it’s been a blessing to be able to work closely with him for quite some time now. I’m very fortunate to be able to work alongside him and the rest of our tremendous team.”
