Family-Friendly Kitchen Remodel
Wellesley, MA
1960s Colonial Gets a Kitchen Transformation
Project Overview
Feeling cramped and cut off from the rest of the home, a young family asked JM Construction to give the kitchen in their 1960s Colonial home a major overhaul. The layout was inconvenient, with the peninsula being underutilized while the rest of the kitchen lacked mudroom and pantry space. They wanted the kitchen transformed into something beautiful and inviting so the family could all spend more time together.
The Results
What was once a dated and uninviting kitchen became a bright and modern hub for the family. A wall between the kitchen and dining room was removed to drastically open up the space and improve the lighting. The unused peninsula was removed, opening up the space to make room for an expansive, seven-foot long island that serves as the heart of the kitchen. Meanwhile, the cabinets were upgraded to create better storage, while the appliances, fixtures, countertops and flooring all received a much-needed update.
Client Feedback
“Everything went very smoothly and we are totally satisfied with the results. Todd, our main GC on the project, was super friendly, experienced, and skilled at his craft. We would easily recommend, and use JM on future projects without hesitation! The design and build function was also key for us. To have the design/architecture element built right into the process with JM, in house, was super convenient as well.”
