Helping Habitat for Humanity on a Local Holliston Home

Giving back to our community is a value that we all share here at JM Construction. Jeff McLinden, president and founder, built the company and attracted like-minded team members who share this commitment to giving back. One particular organization that JM Construction teams up with is Habitat for Humanity. Why not contribute our time and effort to an organization with a mission that fits right in our wheelhouse?

Two years ago, we collaborated with Habitat for Humanity on two Holliston homes next door to each other. When we learned that Habitat was working on another home in our area this past summer, we didn’t want to miss out on the fun.

On July 26th, our entire team stopped current projects for the day to join the construction efforts at this historic home.

We rolled up our sleeves and got busy working on:

  • framing to create an open floor plan.
  • improving a stairway to the basement.
  • altering the interior leading to the back deck, which they reframed.
  • removing scaffolding from the outside of the building and doing some exterior carpentry.

Habitat for Humanity’s Construction Site Supervisor, Ted Oxholm, says he loves when we join the projects because we can do in a day what would take inexperienced workers a week or more. It makes sense since construction is our thing! Jeff agrees: “I’m proud to be able to do this.

Having served on youth mission trips for so many years, I know first-hand how long it takes for unskilled people to accomplish the same tasks.” Ted was very helpful in supporting us while we are on the job, getting tools and equipment for our team. We were a well-oiled machine.

It was a productive, hot summer workday. Everyone worked hard and we got a lot accomplished for a worthy cause.
