Primary Suite Addition
Wellesley, MA
Second Floor Retreat Nestled in the Treetops
Project Overview
After successfully launching their youngest child into the world, these Wellesley homeowners chose to remodel the second floor of their home rather than downsize and leave the neighborhood they love. Their goal was to create a relaxing and functional retreat that maximized natural light and made the most of their beautiful treetop views. This addition aimed not only to expand the sleeping and grooming areas, but also to incorporate spaces for relaxation, both indoors and outdoors.
The Results
By utilizing the space above their first-floor home office, our team expanded the primary bedroom to include a spacious sleeping area, a luxurious bathroom, and a private walk-out balcony.
The bedroom is filled with natural light from large Pella windows and features a soothing palette of lavenders, rich browns, and stormy grays. The bathroom complements the space with a double vanity topped with marble countertops and undermount sinks, as well as a mix of open and hidden storage. A fully enclosed glass shower with smoky glass tile brings in warmth and elegance while letting in ample natural light.
To complete the expanded space, we added custom built-ins including a desk, bookcase, and a comfortable lounging area. The walk-out balcony offers a quiet space to unwind and enjoy the changing treetop views. The result is a personalized, light-filled retreat that reflects the homeowners’ next chapter.
